U4GM - Elden Ring: 19 Underrated Weapons That Excel in PvP

PvP in Elden Ring is where creativity and skill collide. While many players gravitate toward meta picks like Rivers of Blood or Moonveil, there’s a whole arsenal of lesser-used weapons that can be just as deadly—if not more so—when used right. These underrated tools of destruction may not dominate tier lists, but in the hands of a smart player, they can shine in duels, invasions, and arena matchups.

After spending a significant amount of time experimenting and watching PvP tournaments, I’ve compiled a list of 19 underrated weapons that deserve more attention. These aren’t just viable—they can give you a real edge when opponents expect the usual meta.

1. Forked Greatsword

Looks odd, swings fast. This weapon's bleed buildup is deceptively strong, and its greatsword class makes it a solid option for aggressive mind games.

2. Clayman's Harpoon

Not many players expect a spear with innate Intelligence scaling. Combine it with sorcery for a hybrid build that catches casters and melee players off guard.

3. Magma Blade

Its strength/faith scaling and lava trail make it a nightmare in tight quarters. It's a rare drop, but well worth farming if you're after unique Elden Ring items.

4. Great Épée

A thrusting weapon with the reach of a greatsword. Its heavy pokes can out-space most fast weapons, especially when paired with a good ash of war like Flaming Strike.

5. Celebrant’s Sickle

Minimal damage, but insane speed and the ability to farm Elden Ring Runes by striking foes. It's not for every fight, but great for tricky builds and distractions.

6. Dragon Slayer’s Cragblade

With its hyperarmor and stagger potential, this weapon throws off timing and punishes roll-spammy players who aren't used to its unique moveset.

7. Nightrider Flail

This weapon deals strike damage, builds bleed, and has excellent tracking. Ideal for punishing shield turtles or heavily armored foes.

8. Veteran’s Prosthesis

A powerstanced fist weapon with innate lightning damage. If you're confident in close-quarters combat, this can melt opponents faster than expected.

9. Ripple Crescent Halberd

Scales only with Arcane, but if you’ve got high Arcane for bleed or poison, it hits incredibly hard. It also benefits greatly from consumable buffs and status scaling.

10. Torchpole

A torch that functions as a polearm? Yep. Its reach and quirky animations can throw off players used to conventional spear attacks.

11. Giant-Crusher

Despite its size, it’s not as common in PvP. But with heavy investment and proper spacing, few weapons hit as hard in a single strike. Great for punishing mistakes.

12. Spiked Caestus

Fast, brutal, and effective for pressure. Infuse it with bleed or frost, and it becomes a monster in close-range duels.

13. Banished Knight’s Greatsword

Sits just outside the usual meta, but its strength scaling and speed make it a strong contender for pressure-focused strength builds.

14. Cross-Naginata

More known now but still underused in many PvP circles. Fast pokes, innate bleed, and great synergy with status-infused builds make it a silent killer.

15. Antspur Rapier

One of the best weapons for inflicting multiple statuses. Combine Scarlet Rot with poison or bleed and watch even tanky builds crumble under pressure.

16. Monk’s Flameblade

An aesthetically cool curved sword with strong combo potential. Its two-handed moveset is fast, and it benefits from status effect infusions well.

17. Winged Scythe

More than just style—it bypasses shields and punishes healing. Its unique weapon skill makes it great for invasions and catching flask users.

18. Beast-Repellent Torch

Another torch weapon, this one has a wide arc and surprising stagger power. Perfect for aggressive plays and catching rolls.

19. Rotten Greataxe

Scarlet Rot on a colossal weapon is underrated. Space it well and watch PvP opponents panic as they dodge the rot buildup—then fail to avoid the follow-up slam.

While meta weapons have their place, there’s a lot of fun (and power) in exploring the lesser-used side of Elden Ring’s massive arsenal. PvP thrives on unpredictability, and using weapons your opponent doesn’t expect can give you a serious advantage.

If you're looking to test some of these underrated picks but don't want to farm for hours, gathering the right Elden Ring items or Elden Ring Runes through in-game efforts—or community-trusted platforms like U4GM—can help you get started faster. Just make sure to bring the skill to match the gear.
